I have to say that Koblez, while a nice town, was the least successful day of the holiday. Why? Because it was Sunday, and this is not a day to visit small towns in Germany, as they are closed. Which the tour company should be aware of when scheduling things.
As there was an option of a Rhine Cruise on this day (Mum and I didn't take this option, as we have both done them before) we first went to St. Goar. We got there early, so had some time to look around - and look was all we did as it was closed (see above). Also, much looking was involved to find a loo that was open. No photos as I took photos of all there was to see last year, when it wasn't raining.
On from St. Goar to Boppard, to meet the cruisers at the other end of their trip. Another hour of looking, as most things were closed (we did manage to get lunch though, as cafes are open) - the yarn shop was closed! Not fair. No photos as I took photos of all there was to see last year, when it wasn't raining.
Finally, on to Koblenz, which at least had a market, even if everything else that wasn't a cafe was shut. Including another yarn shop. Not fair. Again, far too much time to spend here, as it was cold, wet and closed. I would like to go back though, as I think it could be a nice place (when not cold, wet and closed). I did take some photos though.
Another Pryamid!

A rather lovely Church (I didn't go in, as it was Sunday, but I would like to)

From there we headed back to our overnight hotel in Liege. Across the Moselbrucke (sp?), in the most horrendous driving wind and rain (so windy it wasn't even safe for the other driver to come and serve drinks) - we gave our driver a round of applause when we got to Liege, as it was some excellent driving that got us there ok (the sat nav however, decided to send us the wrong way down a one way street that was too narrow for us - very helpful)

Date: 2007-12-10 08:01 am (UTC)I just will have to come back to Koblenz another time.
Is Goslar near you then? It is one we are considering for next year. We are also thinking of Munich though and I know that would be too far from you.

Date: 2007-12-10 09:05 am (UTC)I know people really like the market in Kassel (they have a fairy tale theme - I don't really like the town that much though). I ofcourse adore Göttingen, where we both studied...

Date: 2007-12-10 10:52 am (UTC)we really like towns like Werningerode (a really beautiful castle there) and goslar ofcourse. The Christmas market there keeps getting nicer - they have this whole forest set up, with all the trees full of tiny lights and there are a few little "courtyards" around town with nice tiny markets of their own. And, there's the "Kaiserpfalz"... oh, and me :P
Berlin is amazing! I LURVE Berlin.
