50: Ragtime in Simla Barbara Cleverly [Kindle]
Very good, a lot of twists in this plot, and more great characters - especially the ever present 'Sir George'
I think this series would make a good tv series.
51: Roadside Picnic Arkady and Boris Strugatsky [Kindle]
This was the December book group choice, and it gave us a lot to talk about. I am still not sure how I felt about this though, it was a very interesting premise for the story, but it could have been much better - I felt the story focused on the least interesting aspects of the story.
52: The Damascened Blade Barbara Cleverly [Kindle]
Another good expedition/adventure for Joe Sandilands - trouble does seem to follow him. Nice overview of the politics, and the role of women, and also the early RAF's struggle to find a peacetime role.
53: Miranda and Me Peggy Hart [Kindle]
Quite sweet and funny, a 'prequel' to Miranda's book. I enjoyed the collection of tweets and photos that Peggy had recieved (and I have now followed her on Twitter)
54: The Palace Tiger Barbara Cleverly [Kindle]
This is a very convoluted plot, the mafia have nothing on the court politics of princely India! Very well written with good characters, and the first one I was sorry to see die.
55: The Book with No Pictures B.J. Novak
This was a present received by a friend's son for his 4th birthday. I read it while I was over there, and it is utterly delightful. If anyone is shopping for a that age group, I would definitely recommend this.
56: A Wayne in a Manger Gervase Phinn [Kindle]
Gently funny collection of Christmas related stories from his school inspector books, not much new to me, but still very enjoyable to read. I also enjoyed reading his poems.
57: A Christmas Carol Charles Dickens [Kindle]
Annual re-read. Enjoyed as much as ever. I notice more each time too.
58: A Snow Garden and other stories Rachel Joyce
Lovely set of interlinked short stories, with a Christmas/Winter theme. Very charming, and with one of the funniest introductions I have read in a long time.
59: Death: The Deluxe Edition Neil Gaiman et al
This was a Christmas present. It was great to re-read some old favourites, as well as having the chance to follow up on some characters, and enjoyed their new stories.
60: The Council of Egypt Leonardo Sciascia
Long overdue book club book - this was the only meeting I missed - and I hated it so much which was why it took me so long to finish. But, I finished it before the end of the year.
