38: Alif the Unseen G. Willow Wilson

One of my colleagues got this as a proof copy from The Bookseller and then decided that she didn't want it, so passed it on to me. The recommendation from Neil Gaiman suggested that this would be worth reading. It was. Great mix of demons and cyber culture set in the modern middle east.

39: All Teachers Great and Small Andy Seed

Not as good as Gervase Phinn, but still a very enjoyable read. It was nice to see him getting to know his first class over the course of a year. He writes very affectionately about the children, interesting to see how strange the Dales seemed to an 'incomer' even in the early 80s.

40: Anguised English Richard Lederer

Dipped into this for a bit of light relief. Brilliant collection of English bloopers.

41: Krakatoa: the day the world exploded, August 27, 1883 Simon Winchester
Absolutely fascinating. Not just the explosion and its aftermath, but the science behind why it happened too. I didn't realise that the understanding of plate tectonics was so recent. There was a good mix of the science and the human story.
