I have been ranting about the existence of 'no ball games' signs on the largest areas of grass on my estate since I moved in. Especially since they are so worried about child obesity.

Seems someone else has noticed the idiocy.

If they could just get people to clean up their dogs' poo from the square near where I live, then we'd be laughing. I don't get it - there are bins everywhere, and people do clean up in the actual park, but the square is disgusting.

ugh - despite all the loose dogs the area where I live isn't too bad.

Don't know what the grass is like though

ugh! we don't even have bins anywhere near, but almost everyone picks up anyhow...

Did we really need a govt health watchdog to point it out? And never mind obesity... parks are meant to be *fun*, a space where kids can unwind, have fun, play a game and hopefully stay out of trouble because of it.

That was exactly my objection to the policies in the area I grew up. Most parks were closed at 5 P.M. making them effectively off-limits on school days.

Agreed, but it fit with the attitude there. Municipal curfews were another big thing, and there were people pushing for rules requiring that anyone under 18 be inside by as early as 7 P.M. Thankfully, few of those passed, and most that did were far later.

They aren't parks, they are grass (in the case of the ones of my estate), but they are right by the houses, so a good place for kids to play
