Customer funny from Mum
Nov. 29th, 2008 08:11 pmCurrently Mum works on the first floor (second floor for those of you across the pond) of her local department store - a store that is a stand alone store. No surrounding shopping centre. Only way in is off the street.
Yesterday a customer approached Mum to ask where hot water bottles were. Mum answered that they were in the toiletries department - on the ground floor (first floor for the transatlantic peeps). "Oh" said the customer. "Is there a downstairs?"

Secondly, that Pepys made little 'high heels' for his smaller books, so that the tops were all level on his shelves!
Thirdly, that the LoC has subject headings which include:
- bat binding
- chickens in religion and folklore
- sewage: collected works

Last night while having a cuppa in Starbucks (in Borders) with my friend Lynn, we were browsing through some of the US craft magazines Lynn had brought up from downstairs.
