Go me!

Having buggered up my hat for the second time, I have now managed to unpick 2 cables and am well on my way to getting it fixed! The yarn is very splitty though, which doesn't make things any easier.

I don't know whether to be proud I fixed things, or cross I fouled it up, twice ...

A while ago I entered a competition in Cross Stitcher magazine to win a selection of cross stitch kits. So long ago I had almost forgotten about it.

Well they turned up on Thursday! I won! I was so surprised :)

I only really entered because I have wanted Woodland Enchantress since I first saw it in the Dimensions Previews. The other kits aren't so much to my taste.

Well done Hazel! You can go ahead and stitch up the one with the birds and then send it to me. We used to have cardinals in our yard when we lived in Massachusetts. We don't have cardinals here and we miss them, especially Mr. Cardinal and his red feathers against the snow. Well, we don't miss the snow, just the birds.

I must admit I do like seeing the wider variety of birds we have here in Leeds. Where I grew up it was mainly seagulls, seagulls and more seagulls (unless you went to the RSPB reserve to see the puffins)

You'll get there with the hat.

Woodland Enchantress is stunning, that is going to look so gorgeous! I bet it is worth a lot too. I also like the dragonflies. You could always ebay the ones you don't like, I guess - or do the kits as gifts.

I will likely ebay them - I need the cash. Considering my current rate of stitching, the gifts might be a long time coming ... ;)

No, you should be proud of fixing your mistakes. Seriously, everyone makes mistakes knitting. Correcting them yourself, rather than huffily telling everyone that "it's MEANT to be that way" is how you learn.

I rather like the dragonflies myself, but if you don't, the money will come in very handy.

Thanks, I am quite chuffed

Everyone seems to like the dragonflies, but still I think sell is the order of the day.

"Isn't perfection boring?" a professor once wrote on [livejournal.com profile] windrdr's test. While I've learned a good deal from successes, I think I've learned more from failures/mistakes.

Heh.

Mum said it takes about 20 minutes to learn to knit (well it took me 20 years, but I am dim), and a lifetime to learn how to fix all your mistakes. I think the latter half of that can apply to a lot of things

Well done you! Be pleased for fixing what you cocked up - it means that 1) you realised what you had done wrong 2) you accepted that you had done it wrong and 3) you fixed it without completely frogging it all up or making it worse :D

And also congratulations on the prize :D Woodland Enchantress is lovely and will look stunning, but I have to say those dragonflies are cute too.

I am quite pleased with myself. I am also pleased I have done another 3 rows without further 'incident'

I have won another prize too, I have won a draw on KnitMap!
