August Books
All kindle reads this month, as at varying times this month some or all of my books are packed, and some still aren't unpacked.
29: The City and the City China Meiville
August's book group read.
This was really good, a fantastically interesting concept, and done very well. I enjoyed the world, the characters and the plot. All liked it at book group and we had a good discussion.
30: Dark Fire C.J. Sansom
I loved the atmosphere, plotting, and politics in this - I think it gives an excellent impression of the time. I also like the characters and I am very interested to see where they go next.
31: Friend and Foe Shirley McKay
I found this quite odd, and I am not sure if it would have helped to have read the earlier books. There was a lot of dithering around and not much murder mystery. Quite liked the main character, but not sure if I like them enough to read another.
32: The Saltmarsh Murders Gladys Mitchell
This is the first Mrs. Bradley I have read, and I am not sure that this was the best book to start with, as you mainly see her through they eyes of the narrator, and I did not warm to him. However, it was the Shedunnit book club choice for the month, so there it was. I did quite like the plot though ,and I would definitely read another one.
