On Saturday Mum, Lynn and I went to Lotherton for the Carriage Day - and to be honest the carriages were the most disappointing bit, as the leaflet had led us to believe that there would be a bit more involved than just throwing open some stable doors - it was very hard to see some of the carriages because they were still in the stable block. But anyhow, I managed to get this photo of the impressive carriage:

I hadn't been over the house before, and it was very interesting - a lot of the rooms weren't roped off, so you could walk round more - and I liked the approach of putting a sprig of holly on the chairs they didn't want you sitting on!
Upstairs we saw this fantastic Victorian spray bath, the original power shower as you would have water coming at you from the side too (I want one)

Another gorgeous bedspread (and as I was able to get closer, I could see that it was french knots, not beads), with a fantastic apron displayed on it:

However, not all was lovely - this has got to be one of the most ugly washstands I have ever seen:

This was in a room full of other ugly things, but I couldn't get decent shots of them ::sigh::
I enjoyed the exhibition of Chinese artefacts very much, and the special exhibition on 60s/70s fashion was hilarious (any one for an ankle length, polo neck, emerald green spandex twin set?)
After the house we went over to look at the Bird Garden and the craft fair, which we enjoyed a lot. No photos of the birdies, as I am not so good at taking photos through metal grids ;)
We had a really good day though, and there is more we could go back and see. It really is excellent value, and so close it is shameful I haven't been before!
