Nicholas and Alexandra (1971)
I watched this on TV one sunday afternoon, most likely in a fit of enthusiasm after reading Russka (and also my interest in the descendents of Queen Victoria). Oh dear. I wish I hadn't. I almost gave up on it. The costumes were pretty, and that was really the saving grace of it all
The Green Mile (1999)
Watched this on DVD one evening on holiday. I hadn't seen it before and wasn't really sure what it was about (the box, being in Spanish, was no help). I was totally absorbed in it (and not my usual fidgetty self), the acting, the characters, everything was just fantastic. Now I must get the book. It also prompted some interesting discussions about the death penalty, and a reminded me I should watch Murder in the First again soon.
