I'm not the greatest fan but I need to admit that I have used on occasion. A while ago I did have a book that had multiple titles of the same name and the author was a common name. The only way to get the specific book with the info I had was the ISBN number (public request from a newspaper review). It can also help sort out edition queries when ordering.
Though I repeat not a great fan off myself, but I can appreciate why it was devised. I believe the publishing industry use it more than libraries.
Berate me for lack of observation and poor attention span; believe it or not the initials I got - the "number" written after I completely failed to notice. DOH!
Psychology students used to love me at uni for observational and memory tests, I always tend to get things back to front i.e. I will remember longer more complex lists to shorter ones, unless you ask me the next day.
Mind you the number of books hazelstitch deals with in an afternoon, we deal we a year. Cataloguing is not my strong point.
We will probably do 5-10 in March. I doubt there will be any prior to that. I dream of budget. Last library I worked in had a book buying freeze for 1 whole year apart from soddin' Mills & Boon.
The books are still good for playing cards with: I raise your Sebastian with a Tarquin! Or alternate cleudo...

Correct me if I'm wrong, though.
