December Books

The 19th Wife - David Ebershoff

This was brilliant, I loved the way two stories were interspersed - and the addition of other snippets too. Fantastic ending.

King Arthur's Bones - The Medieval Murderers

Back on form with this one - even though we had Victorian and then modern stuff, it wasn't as annoying as in the previous book - and seemed to fit the story better.
Having read this not long after Relics of the Dead I began to feel really sorry for King Arthur - he is hardly being left to rest in peace!

The Glass Books of the Dreameaters GW Dahlquist

This is brilliant, but absolutely mad - and really needs you to pay attention. I particularly liked the way the stories were told from the perspectives of the three protagonists in turn - and that the end matter was so perfect. Definitely the oddest thing I read in 2009.

A Vintage Affair - Isabel Wolff

This was just the thing to read after Glass Books, and I read it in a day. It seems like it is going to be a lighthearted romance, but there is a deeper story there too, and they work well together. I loved the bits in the dress shop too, as I love vintage clothes
